In the enchanting hamlet of Fontanellato, near Parma, one finds this prestigious 'Palazzo delle Scuderie' adjacent to the 'Rocca di Sanvitale', also known as Castello di Fontanellato.
The Palazzo, located on Piazza Garibaldi in Fontanellato, was once used for the stables of the Rocca and was built by Count Sanvitale in the 15th century in Lombard Gothic style.
The Palazzo is positioned outside the castle, its function was that of the town's stables at the service of the Sanvitale Family, still today it is surrounded by a large moat filled with water which at the time had the purpose of protecting its inhabitants.
In 1935, Giovanni, the last heir of the ancient Sanvitale dynasty, sold the palace, the park and the adjacent villa to Remo Gandini, who began the partial modification and restoration work, which continued over the years, a desire which was financed by the family, turning it to a private residence.
The Stables are developed on a rectangular plan on the corner between Piazza Garibaldi and Piazza Matteotti.
The entire building covers an internal surface of about 1,070 square meters, and is divided between the ground floor, now an office, the first floor, with three apartments, and the beautiful penthouse with a suggestive view of the park of the former Villa Gandini.
The property is still used today as a single property, but it is divided into five independent units, including a large office with an independent entrance and driveway on Piazza Matteotti, overlooking the garden, and four apartments of different sizes, with ample possibilities of reconversion.
